February 2023 reads; spiritual & enriching

Non-fiction books, Self-discovery, Spiritual wellness

"I think books are like people, in the sense that they’ll turn up in your life when you most need them."

– Emma Thompson

It is the first week of March and it is only fitting that I continue with the book reflections I started last month. I write these reflections so that you as the reader may get a summary of the books I have read, which might assist you in adding books to your TBR (To Be Read) list or get you started on your journey as a reader, if you are someone who wants to start reading.

In this article I will share my thoughts and opinions of the two books that I read in the month of February. In addition, I will rate the books on a scale from 1-5 and give a brief outline of the books. The books that will be discussed include;

  1. Crazy Faith - Michael Todd

  2. The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

1. Crazy Faith - Michael Todd

A 4 star rating from me. It's enriching, useful and easy to follow. This book is a guide for living a faith-filled life. It is written in a way that encourages the reader to take practical steps in their walk of faith.

In January I was contemplating my February reads and Crazy Faith was one of the books I considered as I was looking for a good book that would enhance my spiritual life after reading Bamboozled by Jesus. Little did I know that this was a whisper from the Holy Spirit because February would be a trying month and I would definitely need to get my faith game up. I am always in awe of the methods and ways God uses to reach us. He knew I would find it hard to listen or watch sermons as I often do, so he met me in one of my favourite hobbies (reading), what an intentional God!

Although I had listened to Ps. Mike Todd’s sermons regarding Crazy Faith it was really helpful to have the book and to read it in that season. The book is pretty much the written form of his YouTube videos about Crazy Faith. If you don’t have the means to buy the book I would strongly suggest that you watch/listen to the sermons.

This book is suitable for,

1. Someone who is looking to enhance their spiritual journey and build a relationship with Jesus.

2. Anyone who has lost hope and looking to have faith again.

3. A believer looking to enhance or strengthen their faith and looking for practical ways and strategies to do so.

2. The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

A 5 star rating from me.

It's timeless, relatable and well-written.

I enjoyed that this book was an easy read and that it covered a variety of topics including self-discovery, soul searching and transformation. It is somewhat religious and I enjoyed that. This book is full of wisdom and insight. It was a quick read because it was such a page turner. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone I know. The themes of this book include, the language of the universe, listening to your heart and trusting the omens. There are many life lessons to be learned from this book.

I've written two fantastic articles to summarize my thoughts and the lessons I learned from the book, click on the links below, https://www.lelongoepe.com/post/the-alchemist-book-notes-lessons-to-learn
