Intention for this post

I’ve learned quite a number of lessons from the book which have led me to creating this lengthy post, take the time go through each lesson. Even if you read one lesson daily, it will serve as a guide for you as you navigate life.

10 Things successful people do

The term “success” means different things to all of us. It is personal, unique and changes over time. We can strive for success in different areas of our lives including our relationships, career, health, finances, education and legacy we leave.

10 Ideas I have picked out from the book that you can do to achieve success:

1. Know yourself

“Man’s task in life is to give birth to himself, to become what he potentially is. The most important product of his effort is his own personality”. – Erich Fromm

When driving one needs to be careful of blind spots – the areas you miss when looking in the side mirrors. Assess your personality, take note of the unique combination of your behaviours, traits, mind-set, psyche and style.

Have an open mind, please don’t use this exercise as a weapon against yourself. Use it as an opportunity to get to know yourself. Understand that the weaker areas of your personality can be hard to totally discard. The key is to be cautious in situations where a weakness might challenge you. Learn to identify when you need to make an extra effort.

2. Seek and create harmony

3. Live mindfully

4. Create your future

5. Trust your gut

6. Leave your comfort zone

7. Reinvent yourself

8. Become an expert at something

9. Always be ready to make sacrifices

10. Embrace the journey of getting older

Conclusion

Life is always about choice. Thankfully we always have the opportunity to change, restart and take up new things. The scarcity mindset sometimes gets a hold of us but we shouldn’t allow it to take charge.

"Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts."

— Winston S. Churchill
